How it works.

  1. 01

    Tell us four things.

Budget band, milk habit, counter width, and how much fiddling you actually enjoy. Four radios, one screen.

  2. 02

    We filter the catalog.

A hand-curated list of well-known machines and grinders gets filtered by steam capability, footprint, and tinker tolerance.

  3. 03

    Three tiers appear.

Budget, Sweet Spot, Splurge. Machine, grinder, and accessory kit for each. Every item has a Claude-written 'why this fits' grounded in your exact answers.

  4. 04

Share it, buy it, or print the Playbook.

Save your setup to a shareable URL, click Amazon links to see current prices, or upgrade to the Starter Playbook for the printable dial-in guide.

§5

Questions.

Why three tiers not one pick?+

Because your right answer depends on how much you drink, how much counter you have, and how deep you want to go. One recommendation would ignore two of the three. The three tiers let you pick the one that matches your life, not a listicle's life.

Do you use affiliate links?+

Yes. Every machine, grinder, and kit link is an Amazon affiliate link. If you buy through one, we get a small cut at no cost to you. It funds the free tool. We do not accept payment to place items and we do not sort tiers by commission.

How often do you update picks?+

The curated database is reviewed each quarter and any time a machine gets discontinued, revised (like the Gaggia Classic Pro Evo), or launched (like the Profitec Go). Prices shown are MSRP snapshots; the Amazon link always shows current pricing.

Why isn't a Rancilio in my budget tier?+

Because the Rancilio Silvia lands at around $895 and your budget answer capped the tier below that. Pick the $900 to $1500 band and you will see it. The picker respects your ceiling.

What if I already have a grinder?+

Ignore the grinder line and add its cost back to your machine budget. The Playbook upgrade also includes a page on which grinders pair well with which machines if you want to reuse yours.

§6  /  The Starter Playbook

Skip the accessory bloat. Get the printable Playbook.

Your three tiers formatted as a designed document, plus a 30-page beginner companion: first-shot dial-in (grind, dose, yield, ratio, time), milk texturing basics, a 90-day maintenance calendar tuned to your machine, common beginner mistakes with diagrammed fixes, and a glossary that decodes r/espresso jargon.
